FAMILY FUN AT
Paradise Resort Gold Coast
In the heart of Surfers Paradise, Paradise Resort Gold Coast is consistently voted best family hotel or resort in Australia in the Out & About with Kids’ annual Readers’ Choice Awards.
With a large lagoon-style pool, two water parks and loads of fun attractions, it’s not hard to see why!
Set on a two-hectare site close to beaches and attractions, the Resort is constantly innovating, so no matter how many times you visit you will always find something new to do. Here are some ideas to get you started.
Z4K WATER PARK
The Resort’s epic water park is three storeys high and has a myriad of slides, water cannons and climbing frames, as well as a giant bucket that fills with 600 litres of water before emptying every few minutes. Littlies have their own smaller water park with a slippery slide, water cannons and a tipping water bucket. There’s also a paddling area with a gently sloping beach entry, a lagoon-style pool and children’s splash zone – and best of all they are all heated!
DUSTY’S SAFARI TRAIN RIDE
Choo choo! Hop on board for Dusty’s Safari Train Ride — a trackless, battery-operated Wattman Mini Express train which takes guests on a tour through the Resort’s lush gardens. Mini trains are a passion of the Resort’s owner, Dr Jerry Schwartz, and Paradise Resort is the first resort on the Gold Coast to offer guests such an attraction. Suitable for kids aged two and over, the train carries 16 passengers and costs $5 per ride.
KIDS' CLUB
Children can search for buried treasure, explore the jungles of Asia and travel the galaxy with pedal-powered space buggies in one of the themed areas at Paradise Resort’s awesome kids’ club. The Resort is the only one in Australia with a kids’ club that is available to children as young as six weeks old, up to those aged 12. Open daily, it also features a movie room, a maze and a colourful ball pit, with fun events and activities such as pyjama parties, disco nights, and arts and crafts.
NEW PAMPER PARLOUR!
Hair braiding is a highlight for kids on a Gold Coast holiday, and Paradise Resort recently opened a Pamper Parlour offering the service. There are a range of braid styles to choose from for different length hair, including Mermaid Braids, Unicorn Braids and Single Cornrow with colour extensions, and Dutch Braids without. Open every day from 8.30am to 2pm, the salon features butterfly wall art for guests to take photos in front of, which they can post on social media.
COOL THINGS FOR TEENS TOO!
Teenagers have not been forgotten at Paradise Resort, which is home to the only ice-skating rink in Surfers Paradise and has a teen club where kids aged 13 to 17 can hang out, meet new friends, and enjoy some pretty awesome activities. Think laser tag, rock climbing, virtual reality games, dance parties, and outdoor movies. And parents can rest easy in the knowledge it’s all supervised by the Resort’s teen activity staff specialist.
FAMILY-FRIENDLY RESTAURANTS
When it comes time to dine, there are plenty of options that will appeal to the whole family. Savour your taste buds over slow cooked brisket with the signature Hoagie at Jerry’s Burgers, or try the parmy, fish or chicken burgers. You can also dine at themed restaurant, Penguins, or at Deb’s Pizza Shack, where you can choose from traditional favourites such as Hawaiian, pepperoni or margarita through to the gourmet range, which includes smoked salmon and tandoori chicken. Or if you can’t tear the kids away from the pool for too long, the Poolside Café & Bar is an excellent option.
